Our History
Shekoos Frozen Food Products is a homegrown Kerala brand built on passion, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to quality. The journey began with Mrs. Geetha Sasidharan, who settled in Trivandrum in the year 2000 with a deep interest in the world of food and food technology. Her curiosity led her to attend several Food Technology Workshops, sparking ideas that would later grow into a successful food enterprise.
In 2005, she began her first venture by making traditional Kerala snacks like vattayappam in Thrissur district. Eager to refine her knowledge, she enrolled in CMD Food Technology Institute in Kerala, where she underwent formal training, including a one-week market survey that helped her better understand consumer needs.
This learning inspired her to innovate, and in 2006, she introduced the concept of frozen porotta, a pioneering idea at the time—one that instantly became a major hit.
With the growing success, the family expanded the business further. In 2007, Mrs. Geetha Sasidharan purchased a food company. Her elder son, Sheron Shasidharan, after completing his BBA, joined the team and took charge of marketing. Under his leadership, the brand diversified into producing everyday household staples like ari podi, potato chips, banana chips, tapioca chips, and more.
A turning point came when the SBT Bank Manager of the General Hospital branch, Mr. Varadrajan, recognized the brand’s potential and approved a loan of ₹5 lakhs, enabling the family to purchase and scale the company. Within just one and a half years, Shekoos began supplying porotta to several popular establishments, including the renowned Muscot Hotel in Trivandrum.
It was at Muscot Hotel that fate intervened—when the Inspector General of Police and his daughter visited, tasted the food, and were impressed by the porotta served. On discovering that Shekoos was the supplier, the IG personally invited the team for a meeting and offered continuous canteen orders. At that time, with no freezer facility available, this opportunity sparked the idea of fully transitioning into frozen food production.
From there, Shekoos expanded its reach:
